If I was forced to pick just one of the three, I would probably go for KCRUG.

The first meeting I attended was in May 2004. It was held at the 151st Johnson County public library. Mark Slagell from Iowa State University was in town and he agreed to show some tools for generating reports in PostScript.

Back then, the group consisted of Jason Clinton, Shashank Date (the two founders) and Craig Cottingham. I think I was the fourth to "join."

Joining at that time meant hitting Reply All to an email since I don't think Jason had set up his mail server yet! It was easy to get left off threads!

The group had been meeting for some time then. They originally met at the Ruby Tuesday (now gone) by Oak Park Mall. I never made it to any of those meetings.

Shouldn't the site be KCRUG instead of KCRug? I mean it's an acronym for Kansas City Ruby Users Group. Just don't want the Users and the Group to feel left out (despite my posting it on this forum instead of our Google group).

Meetup About Page - Ryan Flannagan

In light of the new KCRug page. I thought I would add an about page to
the meetup group website and point browsers to the new website.
However, I need some a general history of KCRug. I know the basics but
if anyone could fill me in on the details.

KCRug has been around for 2+ years, correct? Does anyone have the date
when we were founded. Who were the original founders? Some sort of
mission statement would help. How many ruby geeks does it take to
change a light bulb? etc.

Basically, I would just like to write up a short about page
telling the general world who, what, where, when, why and then point them
at this very pretty new website. Anything, you have to add would
really be appreciated.

Why not take advantage of the RSS feed on our site? I use Sage in the sidebar in Firefox. In Sage, I just click on the magnifying glass to 'discover' this feed while I am in this page. Or you can just click on the Subscribe icon in the "Forum Posts" box on this page.

By the way, you can post to this forum, but you have to register first. Click on Register in the upper-right corner of the page to get into the swim.

KC Rug on Doodlebit - Ron Lambkin

The mirror for our group website [http://kcrug.org] has been changed to take advantage of Doodlekit [http://doodlekit.com]. Doodlekit is really slick. It has been created by KCRug member Ben Kittrell and Heath Huffman, proprieters of "Doodlebit Web Based Solutions" [http://doodlebit.com]. It is Ruby on Rails code and is very well done.

Ben has setup a free Doodlekit site for use by KCRug. Jason Clinton and I have made a few modifications to the site. At the next meeting, the site, its uses and future modifications, and the mechanics of Doodlekit will be open for discussion.
